One of the best additions in the upcoming August patch is the feature which finally enables 3D Blu-ray playback, this means the in-build Blu-ray player in conjunction with a 3D TV can allow you to watch the latest movies in sharp scrip 3D. Great if you have a suitable Xbox One TV.

Activity feeds have also been improved; this includes new ways for you to interact with buddies through your activity feed.  The interface has been updated into a single column scrolling list that is much longer. They plan to add the ability to post text to your feed, and to “like” and comment on other users feed items. This means you can now share in-game video clips either publicly or privately using the private messaging system. You will now also be notified if anyone likes, comments on anything in your feed, this makes the whole process a lot more engaging.

The new activity feeds also include an expanded friend’s area on your Home-screen. This makes it much easier to see your friends online at a glance. This includes top games played, Gamerscore leader board and also their current activity.

Microsoft have also added mobile purchase, this was one of the most requested features on Xbox Feedback. Using Xbox SmartGlass or on, you can remotely purchase games and Add-on content. No more waiting to begin downloading when you get home – if your console is set to automatically take updates, your console will begin downloading your purchase. This means you can have instant access to the latest content pre-ordered on the move.

Finally two quality of life improvements for the console, the first a Low battery notification to warn you when your controller is running low on battery and also the ability to disable notifications when you’re watching a movie or video. These are two improvements which we have been calling for since day one, personally I would consider these basic features of a console but we are glad to see that Microsoft have finally decided to include them.

There are a couple of other improvements but we won't cover them in dept because they mainly these cover TV guide features for non-UK countries such as Brazil and Ireland.

Overall we are happy with the developments we have seen since Xbox’s release last year, the latest round of improvements will mean that watching movies and interacting with friends have been streamlined. This is great if you recently purchased a new TV for Xbox One, or if you have recently purchased an Xbox One on Credit.
